The latest scam to hit mobile phones

This is how it works. Usually the victim is a small company, they are lured into a Vodafone contract, for example sim only with unlimited data and minutes etc. The charge, just £10 plus vat per month.

Ok looks fine, you get signed up then you get an invoice off Vodafone for £100 + vat, then you are told by the telecomms company to invoice them £90.00 + vat to get your discount. When you shriek with horror the telecomms co immediately start threatening legal action and quoting contract terms.

In our case the telecomms company is Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Ltd based in Cheshire. This is plainly a divisive scam to lock you into paying over the odds, especially as Vodafone can deal directly for £10/sim or even less.

Initially it looks like its ok you still get the service for £10 + vat."........... OH NO

So how do they make any money?

What happens is this, apart from any kick back from Vodafone half way through the term the discount stops (they craftily conceal this until its too late) and you are stuck with a sim for £100 + vat per month, paying x10 the price, what a con.

Surely this kind of deception is illegal. Definitely a money spinner to hoodwink the unsuspecting customer, a betrayal of trust.

If enough people are affected by this sharp practice we may be able to start a class action against Xxx xxxxxx Ltd as it appears there may be many companies being scammed.
